It takes someone a few hours if they’ve done it before, but it took me around 8 hours, sitting on the floor of my garage with my bike on a kickstand (more on that coming later). I really like the BrakeAway because of its auto-release mechanism. But since it’s just for cruisers, and I don’t currently have one, and since the Atlas Throttle Lock works for so many more bikes, that’s my preference.
Electronic Cruise Control
ETC integrates sensors and electronic controls, allowing for more efficient engine operation. Through ETC, you can set the exact speed you want and maintain it until you decide to change it or deactivate the system. Motorcycle cruise control is not just a luxury; it is a game-changer for long rides.

The ATLAS Throttle Lock bolts on to your throttle tube with minimal effort. Our intelligent ratcheting mechanism will clamp the ATLAS to any throttle tube diameter, from 7/8” to 1-1/4”. It can go from 0-60 MPH in 2.73 seconds, which is remarkable, especially for an engine with three cylinders. The reduced weight and increased power make this motorcycle the most exhilarating yet from Triumph, providing an adrenaline rush like no other.
Ride With The Best
Honda just released their NT1100 sport tourer, which has cruise control, but it’s not active. I would like to see active cruise on the Africa Twin at least, but I don’t expect to for a few years. Moto Guzzi’s active cruise control is called the “PFF Rider Assistance Solution”, which uses “4D imaging radar”. PFF stands for Piaggio Fast Forward, a Boston-based research company under the Piaggio group (which owns Moto Guzzi). The Super Adventure S is the street-oriented super tourer in the Super Adventure line. KTM also makes the Super Adventure R, with more off-road touring gear (for example a 21-inch front wheel), but the SAR doesn’t get active cruise control just yet.
This was true with ABS, Traction control, and even cornering ABS (the consumer-oriented 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 had cornering ABS). You can also set a few other settings from the menus, like how active you want the cruise to be in adjusting its speed. To get an accurate reading, the sensor has to be able to pick up the returned signal cleanly. You don’t want dirt or debris making the sensor’s job even harder. To simplify it extremely, adding an ACC system to a motorcycle means adding a control module and radar emitters and sensors to the ECU units that control everything.
Brands that haven’t yet got Active Cruise Control
Once the speed has been selected, the vehicle will go at that speed. According to Collins Dictionary, cruise control is a system that automatically maintains a vehicle’s speed by controlling the accelerator. Only a handful of two-wheelers (mostly liter-class bikes) have the control system as a standard inclusion. Most motorcycles have yet to receive such an advantageous (not to mention costly) upgrade. The Throttlemeister kit includes two cylindrical-shaped handlebar ends. The pairs are available in two sizes of black or natural stainless.

It’s important to only use cruise control on straight roads, start with low speeds, and be prepared to disengage the system if necessary. Using cruise control on your bike can make long rides more comfortable and enjoyable, but it’s important to use it safely and effectively. The system uses electronic sensors and a servo motor to control the throttle, allowing you to set a specific speed that the bike will maintain.
However, it’s critical to continue scanning the road ahead and override the system whenever needed. The fault is caused by increased internal resistance in the front brake light switch, resulting from silicon oxide buildup. Don’t rely on cruise as an alternative for staying alert and in control of your motorcycle. Resist using the resume function without verifying the previous set speed is appropriate.
I will say that the installation instructions are good enough that even a klutz like me could complete the process successfully. During the initial speed sensor calibration, I set it while going up a slight hill at 45 MPH. I was all ready to take the big ride a see how this thing performs on the long haul. Again, it is important to read the instructions carefully and perhaps even take them with you on the test and tune portion of the ride. Thankfully, taking this step made everything else go much easier, although it added significantly to the time on the overall project.
So it’s nice to see the smaller (659cc, 74kW/99 bhp) twin-cylinder sportbikes from Aprilia with cruise control. But even though those modifications all work and are fine, I really prefer for the advanced systems in my everyday motorcycle to be stock ones. There are a few reasons for this, including a system being better integrated with a motorbike visually and electronically, to not losing value on expensive add-ons when selling the bike. Even the awesome well-integrated systems from MCCruise don’t look visually perfect, and cost north of US$500, and up to nearly US$1,000 for some systems. In the quest for the perfect motorcycle cruise control system, several factors come into play.

Many other brands are cheaper knock-offs that I don’t recommend. I currently have it on a BMW R nineT and previously used it on my Honda CBR600F4i. One thing I love about it is how easy it is to swap out to other bikes. Using the blockchain for vehicle ownership — Ideas, implementation suggestions, and caveats. The Sportster line has embodied simplicity and modest, accessible power for as long as I can remember.
If there’s one thing we know about German engineering precision (hello, BMW.), they never disappoint. Their motorcycles are fitted with top-notch electronic aids including an optional or standard cruise control system in models such as the BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR. Cruise control for bikes can be especially useful for long-distance rides or highway commuting, where maintaining a steady speed can be both more comfortable and more fuel-efficient. So if you’re ready to take your motorcycle rides to the next level of comfort and convenience, read on to learn all about cruise control for bikes. The electronic cruise control unit is shipped worldwide with all parts, parts list and detailed installation instructions for this kit.

How potent is the system if it’s too complicated for you to install? Don’t forget, some systems might require professional help, leading to potential extra costs. Foremost, make sure the cruise control system you’ve got your eyes on is compatible with your motorcycle’s make and model. Every system won’t fit every bike – do your homework before diving in. A heads up though – handlebar adjustments may be needed sometimes for new buttons or switches related to operating cruise control.
It is also equipped with ABS brakes, new graphics, and modifications to the suspension, which makes it one of the most desirable bikes on the market today. The cruise control in the Moto Guzzi California 1400 Touring comes in handy. When cruising on highways and interstates, this bike can go for miles without the driver feeling the need to hold on tightly. It can go up to 100 miles per hour and has a cruising range of 200 miles.
